“The Darkness of Eros: Sex, Shadow, and Subversion”: Jung's Perspectives and Post-Jungian Contributions toward Understanding the Nature and Healing of the Sexual Underworld 

This lecture brings together important contributions from Jung, Cowan, Hillman, and others on the nature of sexual compulsion and shadow. Jung described Eros as a "questionable fellow" beyond any cultural legislation or moral code, as both a divine and hellish expression of the soul. Jung and other depth psychologists contributed critical perspectives to help support our modern understanding of what drives shadow phenomena and the nature of its healing. There is also a beauty to be found in these dark expressions of the soul, as the tortured psyche tries to find itself through the mysterious labyrinth of desire.
